With Saint Patrick's Day coming up I've been feeling festive, and at the last photo shoot I did for the blog, I decided to do a green smokey eye to go with my outfit. This was definitely out of my comfort zone. I tend to stick with neutral colors on my eyes, but this year I've been trying to step up my makeup game and start playing around with colors. So this ended up being my first time doing a green smokey eye and I LOVE how it turned out. I have hazel eyes, and the neutral shadows I normally use make my eyes look more brown than they really are. However, this green shade of eye shadow just made my eyes POP! I could not stop looking at my makeup and as you can tell I took lots of pictures. :) I was so impressed with this little beauty experiment that I decided to share with you how I got this look!
Get The Look
Step 1. Dip a beauty blender into translucent powder (I used the Covergirl Professional Loose Powder) and liberally apply underneath your eyes. It will look like you are wearing baking powder, but don't worry, there's a purpose for this step I promise! When you are applying your eye shadow colors, the powder will actually catch any fallout from the shadows and you will end up with a clean, crisp smokey eye.
Step 2. Apply green eye shadow (such as the Covergirl shadow Kaboom Kelly) from the inner corner, by the tear duct, to the center of your eyelid. You can use a brush to apply, but honestly I just used my index finger. I'm not the biggest fan of using eye brushes and tend to just use my finger or a double sided sponge applicator to do my eye makeup. (Wet n Wild has the best applicator, which I will link in the Shop the Post section)
Step 3. With the thin side of a sponge applicator, dip into any black eye shadow and apply to your eye crease. You can also use a q tip if you like.
Step 4. With the wider side of the sponge applicator, dip into the black eye shadow and apply to the outer corner of your eye. (I did extend the shadow to outside the corner of my eye for a more dramatic look, but this is optional.) With your applicator blend the black shadow into the green shadow to create a seamless look. You can also use your finger for this step.
Step 5. To create more dimension, blend in a sparkly brown eye shadow. (Such as the dark brown from the Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette) Put the brown shadow over top of the black shadow and blend it from the outer corner to the center of your the lid. I used my finger for this step.
Step 6. With a black pencil eyeliner (I used the Wet n Wild megalast pencil) line your eyelids from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner.
Step 7. Line your water line and underneath your eyes with the same black eyeliner.
Step 8. Apply your favorite mascara to the top and bottom lashes. (My all time fave mascara is the Maybelline New York Volum' Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara)
Step 9. Remember that translucent powder from Step 1? Now is the time to wipe it away with a powder brush. Check out how amazing this step made your eye makeup look! No mess to clean up, and now you have super crisp smokey eyes. :)
That's it for the green smokey eyes! I really do love this eye makeup, and if I end up going out for St. Patrick's Day, instead of staying home in my pajamas, I will for sure be recreating the look. What are your plans for St. Paddy's and are you doing anything special with your makeup for the night? Let me know in the comments. I hope you all have a fun filled holiday!

Argan Wear: 2-in-1 Argan Oil & Coconut Water Primer
This is my latest beauty find! I have been on the hunt for a good primer, that works for my dry skin FOREVER! Every product that I tried I absolutely hated. I was just about to give up on finding a primer all together, when I stumbled upon this gem. The Argan Wear Primer by Physicians Formula combines Argan Oil with Coconut Water to prime, tone, and refresh your skin. Not only does it help your makeup stay in place all day, it also hydrates the skin...and it smells delicious! Spraying this on my face has become part of my morning routine, whether I wear makeup or not.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Makeup Brushes
e.l.f. is one of those companies that offers great products at super affordable prices, and their brushes do not disappoint. Almost all of my makeup brushes are e.l.f. With how cheap the brushes are, buying them is a no-brainer. Also, if you are wanting more "high end" brushes e.l.f. offers their Beautifully Precise collection online.
L'Oreal Paris True Match Mineral Foundation
This is my ride or die foundation. It is the holy grail in my makeup bag. Seriously, I have been using the L'Oreal Paris True Match Mineral Foundation for over five years now, and I can not stop singing its' praises. Whenever anyone asks me about a foundation, I tell them to buy this product. It is a mineral powder foundation that provides medium to full coverage. It comes in shades for Cool, Neutral, and Warm tones, so you are sure to find the perfect skin tone match. The brush that come with it is also good quality and does a great job at applying the foundation. The foundation is long lasting and doesn't give you that cakey look some other foundations do.
N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Blush
When it comes to blush, I tend to go cheap lol. It's like a product I don't really want to buy, but I do because I know I need the extra color added to my face. In my quest to find a blush that didn't break the bank, I came across the N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Blushes. These blushes are now a staple in my makeup bag, because they are highly pigmented. Seriously, only use a little or you'll look like a clown! I love these because I think I only have to buy about two a year. So if you're like me and want a bang for your buck when it comes to blush, check out N.Y.C.
Maybelline New York Nudes Eye Shadow Palettes
I love doing my eye shadow. I could literally sit at home all day and just mix together crazy color combinations of eye shadow to see how it looks. It's just one of those things that I feel is easy to have fun with in makeup. Since I'm always playing around with different shadow color, I have been loving the Nudes eye shadow palettes that Maybelline New York has been coming out with. The paletes offer a variety of shades and colors, in different options of matte or sparkly. Maybelline currently has four different Nudes palettes on the market for you to choose from.
Maybelline New York Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner
This is the only liquid eyeliner I will use. I first bought this eyeliner because I liked the name Stiletto (of course right) but it quickly became one of my favorite products. The eyeliner pen has a fine point felt tip that glides on the liquid precisely in to the perfect dramatic cat eye.
Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara
Okay, so apparently I have a thing for Maybelline eye products. However, this is another one of those ride or die products I had to mention. I've actually tried several other Maybelline mascaras and none of them compare to the Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara. This mascara makes my eyelashes look crazy long! The curved brush also makes it easy to reach those annoying corner eyelashes. I just put on a couple coats of Colossal Cat Eyes and I'm getting compliments all day on my super long lashes.
Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil & Gel
Big, bold brows have been the thing for the past couple of years. The trend has gotten a little out of hand, and thankfully more natural brows are making a comeback. If you're not ready to give up your eyebrow pencil completely, Revlon has the perfect product for you. The Revlon Brow Fantasy & Gel is the best of both worlds. The brow pencil allows you to fill in your brows, and the brow gel not only sets the color from the pencil, but it also kind of smooths out the penciling to create a more natural soft brow. When you use this product, people will never know those aren't your natural brows.
wet n wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain
Let me be the first to say I love the matte lip trend. I think it looks absolutely glamorous and beautiful. That being said, I have found I am not the type of girl who can wear a matte lip everyday. Special occasions...yes...every day to the office...um no thanks. If you're like me and want a product that gives the look of a matte lip without being so drying on your lips, then I suggest you check out wet n wild's Mega Slicks Balm Stain. I have almost every color that is sold, because I absolutely LOVE these stains. The product offers a good amount of color and stays on relatively well when applied. I normally will apply in the morning and reapply at my lunch break, and that gets me through the work day. I have found that instead of drying my lips out, like many matte lip products do, these balm stains actually leave my lips softer. For less than $3.00 at the drugstore, the MegaSlicks Balm Stain can not be beat!

Fast and Formal: Guide to a Quick Updo
For all you ladies who have a formal event coming up, whether it be a charity ball or prom, I am here to instruct you on an easy way to achieve that expensive looking hair style all on your own! No salon visit! My secret to a quick elegant updo is what I like to call pin rolls.
Pin rolls are my take on the popular 1940's hairstyle Victory Rolls. It's vintage made modern!
I was first introduced to pin rolls by some of the girls I went to college with. They could create intricate updos in less than 15 minutes, just by pin rolling their hair! I had them teach me the technique, and I will admit my first couple of attempts were fails. It does take practice to get the rolling technique down, so don't be discouraged if your first try doesn't come out perfect. Once you have the rolling down you'll have an elegant updo in a matter of minutes!
